Subject: Slidell Casino
Dear Slidell Council Member:
I know you have an important vote ahead of you. I believe the proposed casino project in Slidell
is a bad idea at this time. We need to focus our attention on the small businesses, restaurants
and attractions who have just emerged from a year-long hibernation as a result of the COVID-19
pandemic. We must do everything in our power to assure that these businesses in St. Tammany
parish are open and profitable. We need a lot of things in Louisiana, but another casino is not one
This project will not add any new revenue to the state as it will simply redistribute revenues from
the other casinos around the state. With gaming comes increases in crimes. There are also
documented statistics that reveal that gambling addictions and suicides increase in areas where
gambling casinos are present.
Is this worth it for St. Tammany? You have built up a tremendous quality of life for your residents
and businesses. It’s one of the reasons my wife and I chose to build our home in St. Tammany.
Let’s work together to attract industries that create high paying jobs, and revenues while
protecting our way of life.
